CPR and NEN-EN 1090-1
The European Commission issues guidelines for a large number of products. The European rules for construction products for the supply industry (manufacturers, importers and distributors) form the legal framework for marketing and trading construction products in Europe. The goals are to promote free trade between EU Member States and to guarantee safety for users. One of these quality guidelines is the Construction Products Regulation (CPR). In particular, the purpose of the Regulation (No. 305/2011) for Construction Products is to remove barriers to trade, by:
- Harmonization of test methods for the testing and assessment of construction products;
- Uniform and transparent regulation for the internal European market.
For steel and aluminum structures, the existing standard is NEN-EN 1090-1, which is legally required from 1 July 2014.
